That implies that Shiv differentiates between /following the swap rule/, and JUST taking a book. He's far from stupid, and more of his former fosters need to be kicked to Saturn for the damage they've done. His teachers deserve worse.
He's also not nearly as asocial as he thinks, because he DOES differentiate between the two actions.
