This poem came out of the December 5, 2017 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired and sponsored by Anthony & Shirley Barrette. It also fills the "contentment" square in my 12-3-17 card for the [community profile] genprompt_bingo fest.

-- an acrostic

Cold holds the earth in
Open arms, embracing
Nothingness and night,
Tingling on the skin.
Everyone cuddles close,
Now that the day is done,
Taking comfort from the fire.
Men and women rest content,
Each duty done, each task complete.
No one is left out, no one is alone, and
Tomorrow must wait for the morn.

Acrostic poetry spells something down the lefthand margin with the first letter of each line.  It is easy to write.

*nods* Summer's heat's no good for snuggles, especially a large bear with Scottish genes... but now? CUDDLE PILE!

I liked the flow from cold to warm/empty to stuffed and cozy. And the structure has a nice heft to it--sometimes I find acrostics to be rather skimpy, with the margin word sort of standing by itself from lack of content.
