Poll: Poetry Fishbowl Links

Here is a poll about Poetry Fishbowl links.  If you look on the Serial Poetry page, you will see that the prompter(s) and sponsor(s) for each poem are linked to their Dreamwidth or LiveJournal blog if they have one, or rarely another location. Making these links takes time.  Back when I started the Poetry Fishbowl, the workload was much lighter (and Weebly worked a lot better) so it wasn't an issue.  But now, making those links is about half the time required per entry, and there are a LOT of entries.  If this is a feature you folks are actively using, then it's worth keeping.  But if you don't use it, we'd like to reduce or drop it for the sake of efficiency.  That time would then be available for other tasks, such as continuing to make new pages for threads.  Individual poems will still have links to prompters and sponsors as available. Thoughts?

As long as the *names* are given, the links can be found by the one curious.

The way the poll is currently worded, it seems like you're asking about not just the index entries but also the prompter/sponsor links which appear at the top of each poem. If that's what you mean, cool, but if not, more clarification might be needed (such as saying "index entries" rather than "poems").

Oh, good point! I rarely use the indices, and just names would be sufficient there.

You could add a list of LJ/DW user links to the index; that would only require a single entry for each new sponsor or prompter, so it would be much easier to maintain.

That's one of the things we have considered, just putting a list of prompters and sponsors at the top of each relevant index page.

I think as long as the links are *somewhere* (e.g. in the header of the poem(s)) they don't need to be in the index on Weebly. But that's one person's opinion. You should above all do what works for *you*, and yes, what works for your audience is part of that, but only part.

That was clear. It would have bothered me more if the difference meant a lot to me. And you and your helpers (and we readers!) deserve to be able to spend your time and effort on the important stuff: writing, continuity, and to a lesser extent, indexing.
