We went up to visit my parents today.

I found a black t-shirt with copper lettering that says "Breathe."  Always good advice!

I was thrilled to find a square-fold insulated shopping bag that zips around the top.  We used to have one but eventually it fell apart.  Since then I could only find flat ones, and one very small square-fold.  Yay, new bag!

We tried feijoa fruit.  It has a very strong tropical aroma with musky and floral notes.  The flavor is tangy but with many complex undertones that don't really blend together.  Texture is soft and a little gritty, similar to pear, although it has a complex seed compartment like a cucumber.  It was interesting to try, although I think I'd like it better blended with other fruits in a smoothie or ice cream.  It just seems made to marry with everything.  :D  Fandom bicycle fruit!  Everyone gets a ride!

Yay insulated bag! I've got a big one that's wearing; I shall be sad when it dies. Maybe one can be found mail order?

Oh, I like that second one! And that company has their *own* affiliate program, and doesn't associate with Certain Very Large Retailers That Try To Take Over The World(R)(TM)(EIEIO)...

(Yes, I know, some folks can't afford to be too picky... even me at this stage. But when I *can* be picky, I try to err on the side of the planet, and the people who try to make it better. Including, happily, present company.)

One of these years, I would like to be involved in such a thing, yes.

I have a question: "Government" bullshit aside, how do you prefer to travel long distances? Plane, train, motor coach, something else?

Because if I get (or create) my dream job, it will be "import and export of bards to lands who are not yet familiar with them", and I don't intend to discriminate between prose, poesy, and music... :)

I agree about dragon fruit. I like to experiment but living in the middle of nowhere I don't often get the chance.

That is really cool. I have to drive up to Columbus to find stuff like that. Occasionally Athens will have something odd like jackfruit and it's closer to me (only 50 miles compared to 90)

Hmmm. It looks like a cross between a lime, a cucumber and melon. Ha. Interesting fruit.

Feijoas are great! I have a tree, but it really attracts fruit fly, so I don't get a lot of fruit off it. Makes really good jelly though -- smells/tastes of flowers and spring days.

Comment on something upthread - feijoa isn't particularly tropical, given that it is commonly grown in New Zealand.
