Hurt Comfort Bingo Card 6-16-17
Jun. 16th, 2017 10:16 pmBelow is my card for the Round 8, 2017
hc_bingo fest. This fest encourages the creation of boundary-pushing material that explores what happens when things go horribly wrong and people actually care about each other. Remember, things always go wrong; what matters is how you deal with that. Some of the content may be NSFW. Read the FAQ and rules first. The signup post is here. (See all my 2017 bingo cards.)
I thought this might be an effective way to attract some new readers. It's also useful for developing some of my more danger-prone series.
If you'd like to sponsor a particular square, especially if you have an idea for what character, series, or situation it would fit -- talk to me and we'll work something out. This is a good opportunity for those of you with favorites that don't always mesh well with the themes of my monthly projects. I may still post some of the fills for free, because I'm using this to attract new readers; but if it brings in money, that means I can do more of it. That's part of why I'm crossing some of the bingo prompts with other projects, such as the Poetry Fishbowl.
Warning: One of my readers noted that many of these prompts are "extra dark." I didn't notice it so much because I tend to gauge based on the tone of a given piece. If you're sensitive to just the prompts, you may wish to exercise caution.
Underlined prompts have been filled.

Date: 2017-06-17 06:24 am (UTC)That would be awesome.
>> I wonder if there's any way we could get them to give us a card in words instead of a card in a picture. <<
Try asking. I suspect if you explain what you need and why, they'll be willing to help.
It's not actually an image file. (I've been in fests that work that way, and you can't edit your card then.) It's text on top of a background image. There is code to make the background white, and in any case, the text can be edited. So it should be possible to get the words out. If nothing else, you could get the regular card from them and just ask someone to retype your squares as a list. B1 low blood sugar, I1 hypothermia, etc.

Date: 2017-06-17 06:35 am (UTC)Oooh! Lots of good stuff here
Date: 2017-06-17 06:36 am (UTC)Could you keep "skeletons in the closet" in mind for Monster House? I bet they have one somewhere.
"Experiments by evil scientists" clearly has Turq written all over it, but it works well for Diminished Expectations, too.
"Loss of home/shelter", "hunger/starvation", and "homesickness" all fit well in A Conflagration of Dragons.
I can see "secret allies" fitting Fiorenza the Wisewoman.
These are a theme I'm planning to invoke in An Army of One when an appropriate Fishbowl topic shows up: "accidents", "trapped together". "Loss of home/shelter" could go here, too.
Have fun with these!

Date: 2017-06-17 07:47 am (UTC)I didn't notice it because I've written very nearly fluff about some of these.
