It's a great bike, but it's way heavier than she's used to, and she hasn't been in the best shape due to chronic illness. Give her a month or two and she'll be comfortable with the new bike, and by three she'll be able to handle it loaded without strain. She's young and strong; by the end of the summer she'll be hauling respectable loads. A trailer will probably become useful next spring or so.<<

Yeah, I'm looking "forward" to slowly reconditioning myself now that I will soon be able to have a rideable bike again.

Mine got stolen (from the hall outside my apartment) about a year and a half ago. Someone gave me a bike that was missing a few parts and needing some work. I couldn't afford any of that until now.

At my age (62) I don't expect to get up to where I was when I was younger, but I'll get to a point where things are useful.

Eventually I'll get a replacement for the old bike (an Electra Townie 21 womens bike). I *need* the step thru frame because if I get overly tired (from riding a bit farther than I should have) I often can't safely dismount from a men's bike because I'm apt to fall over trying to lift my leg over the bar.

That's one of those things that folks don't always think of.
