I've reached the end of scheduled themes for the Poetry Fishbowl project.  It's time to brainstorm some new themes!  These are a few that I've jotted down earlier, ones that I've thought up or people have suggested, to give you an idea what kind of stuff might be suitable:

* Hurt/Comfort
* Nonsexual Intimacy
* Unicorns

What other themes would you like to see me write about?  Suggest them in a comment below this post.

Later on I'll collect the suggestions and do some polling.  The most popular topics will be added to the schedule for future fishbowls.  Previously, I have just dumped all the proposed themes into a big poll.  The more themes people suggest, the less well this works.  I have an idea for fixing that problem.  This time, I'm going to run the first large poll with checkboxes so you can express interest in as many themes as you like.  I will then use that information to pull out the favorite themes for a smaller poll to select the ones which will appear in upcoming fishbowls.

You can also help by linking to this post so that more people will see it.  Everyone is welcome to suggest themes.  Everyone will also be able to vote for them later; prompters and donors will get extra votes.  If you link to the call for themes, you can reveal a verse in any open perk poem:
"Testing the Metal" (4 verses left)
"Dangerous Refuges" (4 verses left)
"From Silica to Silk" (Now Complete)
"The Marble and the Sculptor" (7 verses left)
"Picking Up the Litter" (8 verses left)
"The Golden Peaches of Peace" (9 verses left)

Take your pick of any of these:

Felines and canines. Possibly with an element of comparing and contrasting (or suggesting third alternatives, such as foxes, ferrets, etc).

Deep time and geological change.

Small yet crucial moments of courage.

Starting over, all over again.

Left suggestions; made a signal boost on DW. If you do a linkback verse for that, I would prefer 'From Silica to Silk'; or you can give it to the poem closest to being done if you have one that's just a verse or two away at that point. Good luck!

Have you done seasons as a theme yet? There's a lot of seasonal imagery in some of your poetry, but I'd love to see even more. :) And maybe seasons other than the "four seasons" model, like monsoons, or interesting weather on other planets. Or hunting season, courting season, all kinds of things like that.

Signalboosted to Tumblr and Dreamwidth. Does Silica to Silk have verses left?

* The Animal Kingdom
* Connections - broadly: building or making them between people, or communities, or connections between natural phenomena, ecosystems, physics, synchronicity, etc.

- Marx

-Hobbies. Something that lets you explore characters favorite pastimes.

-Ritual. From the small daily rituals through large community making traditions, to religious ritual, all the way through the rituals in science.

- Colors. We've got Turq, Officer Pink, Pain's Gray, Boss White, color is a strong thematic presence and could be fun to play with in a focused way during a fishbowl.

Shared on Facebook. Could I get a verse on "Testing the Metal?"

Living in the cracks. Squatting, vandwelling, London Below, couchsurfing. The tunnels under New York that Vincent & Linda in the Beauty & the Beast series lived in. Probably the Lacuna. Sometimes it's chosen, sometimes it's pure desperation, often it's somewhere in between. It's rarely legal or accepted by the dominant culture.

Rebellions, refugees, and renewal

When icons die, reframe the big picture

Revolution starts in the family, or Family

Sacrifice and rebirth

Identity within, NOT imposed without

Love and laughter counter tears and pain

Mental or invisible illness, injury, and trauma

Poke ALL the bigots in the eye - characters fighting racism, ageism, ableism, and every other ism

Reparations versus revenge, real apologies

When Kali dances, or the Female side of All has had enough of this

Time to be the Herx (o or a), and we have a Million Faces, not merely a Thousand. (Joseph Campbell reference intended)

Salutes the General, and the Royalty who have gone before, and follows the Bards and the Pipers. :-D
