It's an interesting possibility to consider. On the other hoof, we're just starting to build a support structure for Damask and Mallory. Move more than a few people, and it quickly becomes necessary to move everyone. While this is accurate to the struggles that Terramagne is actually facing, it has one very significant drawback: we don't live on a tropical island, and writing an unfamiliar setting has inherent challenges that increase the more story weight gets heaped upon it. I think I do a decent job with one thread in the Maldives. I'm not sure I could handle shifting the main weight there.

Also consider the practical challenges of Simon in a country that is spread out over a bunch of little islands. The capital city covers its entire island, but most of the rest are more rural, and probably not all that accessible. This is a concern because wheels that work well on pavement, on rough terrain, and on sand are all completely different. Plus which, I doubt the Maldives have as much depth of accessibility infrastructure as America does -- it would mean going from a well-designed house to something not nearly as fitting, or else waiting until something could be built to suit. Not insurmountable obstacles, but far from trivial ones. It's just not as easy for Simon to pick up and move, as it would be for an able-bodied person.
