I hope his flock decides to take this advice as a guide, but am not holding my breath.

In the meantime I have a little advice for him:

Respect women's right to control their own bodies.
Respect gays' right to marry
Respect women as fully equal, including in the church hierarchy.

Pretty basic stuff, most of which grows out of his own advice. I wonder if he'll take it.

1) Look at the gigantic clusterfuck the Church has made of itself over the last 2000 years.

2) Now imagine being ONE GUY trying to fix ALL OF THAT in a few years. No matter how much he does, there will always be important stuff he hasn't gotten to yet.

I'm just really grateful nobody has assassinated him yet. He is rocking a lot of boats and people do not like that.

Wow, their attempt to map "move forward and let others do the same" onto "live and let live" is full of fail. Those are completely different pieces of advice.

I'm familiar with the latter but not the former. What is intended by the former? Is it more apologize/forgive and move on, or ...?

I'd translate it more as "make peace with who you and your neighbor are, don't drag out things that need to end".

Anyway, this is one pope I worry about. The things he says, his actions, they're all too radical for the Catholic Church. I'm surprised the other church leaders haven't already tried to oust him, or worse.
