[personal profile] zeeth_kyrah posted this set of lyrics for "Let's Make Lemonade" by Dr. Laser and the Nocturnal Emissions. Imagine it as big band jazz/blues music.  Of course, you can see the point in the song where soups in the audience flash their talents instead of waving lighters like people do at rock concerts.

I decided that this sounded like a great fit, so it's now Polychrome Heroics canon with permission from the author.  It was first posted as a comment under the original poem.

"Let's Make Lemonade"

So life hands you lemons
-- WHAT DO YOU DO?
So life hands you lemons!
-- WHAT DO YOU DO?
Life hands you lemons, so
Get out your squeezer,
Let's make lemonade!

Pull up a table,
'Cause it's hot outside!
Pull up a table and
Draw up a sign!
One glass a dollar, kids,
Fun in the sun!
One glass a dollar,
Let's make lemonade!

Add your sweet and your sour
-- WHAT DO YOU DO?
Add your sweet and your sour
-- WHAT DO YOU DO?
Sweet and sour
Makes good lemonade.

Sit on your porch swing and
Wave to the crowd
Show your talent,
Quiet or loud
Sure you got lemons, but
You know what to do.....

So life hands you lemons
-- WHAT DO YOU DO?
So life hands you lemons!
-- WHAT DO YOU DO?
Life hands you lemons, so
Get out your squeezer,
Let's make lemonade!

I can actually hear a tune for this in my head. Would you like for me to work it up? It would be vocals only because I don't play anything that could do big-band styling, but with lyrics and a melody, maybe someone else could come up with an arrangement.

Okay -- it may take me a day or two, because I'll need to rehearse it and figure out how to record it. Also, there might be a bit of minor editing -- I was noticing, just in looking it over, that a couple of lines didn't scan quite right to what I was "hearing". But singers do that on the fly anyhow. :-)

Hey, I just realized -- I can record it with my digicam's video! And then I can put it in Dropbox, and you can download it from there and actually put it on the series page. I saw that you're using weebly.com, so that should give you the option of inserting a video.

Not a problem! Some lines sound better spoken (but you don't have to), and the all-caps are the band shouting a response (as sometimes happens in jazz).

Fun

I like this. I like trying to picture a crowd scene where they're singing along with the band. Vivid and interesting!

I hadn't even though about seasonal stuff. Sometimes jazz/blues pours out of me from somewhere way deep inside, though, and this is what bubbled to the surface after reading the poem and comments.

Thank you!

I'm really happy to have it, however it came about.
