ysabetwordsmith: (Schrodinger's Heroes)

This poem came out of the September 6, 2011 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by a prompt from [personal profile] meeks. It has been sponsored by [personal profile] timescaper. This poem belongs to the project Schrodinger's Heroes.

"Schrodinger's Human"

Schrodinger's human is smart.
She is in charge of their whole pride.
Schrodinger doesn't know what "quantum physicist" means
but it sure seems to impress the other humans.

Schrodinger's human is impressed by his prowess.
She pets him when he kills the sucker rats.
Schrodinger knows that she isn't very happy
about there being sucker rats,
but he is secretly glad they came through the purring doorway.

Schrodinger's human is familiar.
She is his and he knows her, even when
there are suddenly half a dozen of her and some of them are evil
and Schrodinger has to hiss at the imposters to warn the pride about them.

Schrodinger's human is proud of him.
She trusts him to run through the firefights and come out intact.
He will always be there, fighting evil beside her,
her little black good-luck charm.

This is why she calls their pride Schrodinger's Heroes.

The sucker rats date from the unaired episode "A Can of Worms."

The doppelganger reference matches the unaired episode "Is There an Echo in Here? Echo in Here?"

The epic firefight is from the unaired episode "Last Woman Standing."

Humans often forget, something small and agile with five ends that are *pointy* when they do that can be a hell of an ally in a close-quarters firefight.

So very true. Schrodinger is not someone you want to mess with.

I remember reading somewhere that housecats are one of the best pound for pound hunters in the world I can't remember the source so I wouldn't take it as gospel but watching my cat hunt I can certainly believe it

You know, it makes perfect sense for Schroedinger to be the center of his universe, which of course, means ALL of them.

I loved the unusual perspective still conveying information.
