ysabetwordsmith: Damask smiling over their shoulder (polychrome)
This poem is spillover from the October 4, 2016 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by a prompt from [personal profile] siliconshaman. It also fills the "personal growth" square in my 8-1-16 card for the Survival Bingo fest.  Based on an audience poll, this poem is the free epic for the February 7, 2017 Poetry Fishbowl reaching its $200 goal. It belongs to the Berettaflies thread of the Polychrome Heroics series.

Poetry in Microfunding:
"A Hope and a Promise" belongs to Polychrome Heroics.  Aidan and Saraphina interact with new friends.  There is plenty of room to open a new epic or two for the Tuesday fishbowl.  "Essential for Human Survival" belongs to Polychrome Heroics: Cassandra.  Groundhog shows Cassandra a brochure for the Kwan Yin House of Compassion.

The weather is ridiculously warm, almost 70F here.  Recently at the birdfeeder I have seen a few doves, some sparrows and grackles, and a cardinal.  The squirrel was digging around in the yard.  Many of my flowers are sprouting and the Eranthis is blooming bright yellow in the goddess garden.

WARNING: This poem contains intense topics that may bother some readers.  Highlight to read the warnings, some of which are spoilers.  It features infertility, adoption and race issues, reference to unwanted superkids, awkward interpersonal issues, bond shear, Vagary freaking out when he finally realizes that he made Calliope feel unsafe, pursuit-withdrawal cycle, uncomfortable sexuality stuff, and other challenges. If these are touchy topics for you, please consider your tastes and headspace before reading onward.
