Good news includes all the things which make us happy or otherwise feel good. It can be personal or public. We never know when something wonderful will happen, and when it does, most people want to share it with someone. It's disappointing when nobody is there to appreciate it. Happily, blogging allows us to share our joys and pat each other on the back.

What good news have you had recently? Are you anticipating any more?

Nice coworker

One of my coworkers offered to treat me to lunch today. And she is going to a restaurant I have never tried before. Chicken and waffles for lunch, yum.

I really appreciate it, as my household have been on a super limited budget/menu till payday on friday.

I have had this song stuck in my head half the morning. Different restaurant, same dish.

Sometimes, it's the (relatively) little things

A book I've really been looking forward to getting--"Call the Midwife" actor and science-communicator Stephen McGann's new medical memoir--is scheduled to arrive today!

got a good fix of [profile] s00j (SJ Tucker) on Sunday, and validation for a new path for myself... she has an Alvarez 5-string bass she was rocking, and OMG that is a thing of beauty... her name is "Sheba", and the fifth string is LOW... at least two of us were sitting there with our mouths open at the sheer poetry of the instrument, and the pixie playing her...

The last time I hyperfocussed on an instrument I made an eighteen-year friend... ironically, I met Sooj *in the context of that friend*...

(Oh, yeah. Except for the keys player the WHOLE BAND had five-stringed instruments... Sunnie with the 5-string .... violain? :) (It's a viola with an E string like a violin, so she can play either-or depending on the needs of the tune... ), Betsy with Raven, the 5-string cello (also with the high string, again for playing fiddle solos on the bigger instrument), and Sooj with Sheba. (Sooj also had Stella (STELLA!!! ;), a mostly regular electric guitar, only with violin/fiddle-style F holes - a semi-solid, which is unusual, but with the usual six strings.)

And, oh yeah, I getta do it again on Saturday, with the added bonus of Alexander James Adams and a much bigger venue, which will, Lady willing, include a number of huggable people who couldn't make the bitty house concert...

Oh, and reconnected with someone with whom I'd been at odds...

Oh, and there's RAIN in the forecast, long-term! G-ds know we need it after all this smoke! (I hear tell it's blown as far east as you, Ysabet!)

You may get a squall line tomorrow. I'm tracking a raggedy one from northern Wisconsin down through Kansas, but it probably doesn't have enough oomph to make it to you tonight before it peters out. Tomorrow, however, is another day... and the cold front pushing those squalls, yeah, probably in the wee smalls of Friday.... from the looks of it, not enough heat in the air mass over you now to generate anything but a good gullywasher when the cold air gets to it and shoves it towards the stratosphere. Further south they're getting some severe weather, but north of the Mason-Dixon all you're getting is heavy precip... which is good, because you're an inch and a half below normal for the month, and more than that for the summer, and could use it.

We're likely to get that storm line you're tracking some time tomorrow afternoon. Bleh. It's been a rainy enough summer around here!

Totally unrelated, did my backchannel message of a week or two ago get to you, or did DW eat it? Or am I being a pest?

I got it, and then forgot about it. I have a very fat virtual reader queue between you and Sarah and elseBook... I should find a weekend sometime soon and just binge it all....

Zero worries whatsoever, and I do not mean to be a pesky pain in the butt... I just wasn't sure you a) saw it or b) wanted it, you know?

Ooh, now you've got *me* pondering a weekend of reading up a storm. My to-read pile is pretty darn towering by now... Best kind of enabler, you are! :)

Had my 13-yr old niece over for a week. Introduced her to video games she hadn't seen before and lots of food she hadn't tried; took her to the zoo, IKEA, and a play. She had a blast and I managed to stagger the outings correctly around pain episodes.

Went with her whole family to see the terracotta warriors. Was AWESOME. Been wanting to see them in person since I was a kid.

I have a doctor's appointment to see a specialist I need, and health insurance should apply to at least some of the cost.

The anxiety meds are working. Confirmed this by my own observation, and by doctor follow-up. Whew.

For the first time this month, I didn't hit my word count goal for the day. That's /amazing/ improvement, because I have SO MANY more spoons compared to the Great Spoon Desert of January-July!

Talking to a friend about potential relationship stuff. He's opening up communication rather than closing off. Which is a relief.

I was able to go to Confluence last week, where I heard great music & hung out with very groovy people. Even after days in the land of Massive Portions and No Fresh Veggies, my blood pressure and sugar are still reasonably low. Also, the rain's mostly held off, so I can begin walking off what I put on in Pittsburgh.
